April 30-Day Challenge: Embrace this Beautiful Season

Each month, I design a 30-day challenge to inspire myself to fully embrace the season and make time every day for something that brings me joy. This April, I’m excited to share my April 30-Day Challenge packed with fun and refreshing spring activities! I invite you to join me and try one of these activities every day. Are you ready to take on the challenge? Let’s make this month unforgettable!

April 30-Day Challenge

Outdoor Activities for the April 30-Day Challenge

  1. Go on a Picnic – Pack a healthy meal and head to a park to enjoy the outdoors and some fresh air. Go by yourself, with a friend, or with a significant other. The spring weather provides the perfect atmosphere for relaxation, reading, bullet journaling, and good conversations.
  2. Visit a Botanical Garden – Explore the beauty of blooming flowers and plants, perfect for nature lovers. Depending on where you live, it can take awhile for everything outside to start blooming. Going to a botanical garden is a great way to get a dose of green energy before spring has officially sprung.
  3. Start Plants from Seeds – Start a spring garden by planting flowers, herbs, or vegetables in your house. Where I live, you don’t dare start plants outdoors until close to the end of May. So, I love to get the indoor growing kits to start my plants from seeds so they are ready to transplant outside once it’s warm enough.
  4. Try a new outdoor activity – Take a leisurely bike ride to explore your town or countryside. Go to a local park and play pickle ball. Find a new hiking spot in your area. Overall, just get outside and be active in a new way. You might find a new hobby!
  5. Take a nature walk – I personally try to get outside for 30 minutes every day, but most of the time, I’m still in the city with all of its city noises, buildings, and busyness. There is somethings so refreshing about going somewhere off the beaten path and just enjoying all that nature has to offer. Take some time this month to get in touch with nature and walk somewhere new!
  6. Pick flowers or leaves and create a simple nature craft – On your nature walk, why not pick up some leaves or flower petals to use for a fun spring craft. I found this idea for pressed flower bookmarks and I can’t wait to try it out this April.

Indoor Activities

  1. Read a Spring-Themed Book – I’ve made it my goal to get into reading this year again, and reading books that reflect the season has made it so much easier for me to fall in love with this hobby. Dive into a good book with themes of renewal, growth, or nature. Need ideas? Check out this post with great spring reads!
  2. Spring Cooking – Seasonal cooking is the absolute best! Using fresh, in-season ingredients makes such an incredible difference in meals. For spring, make dishes like salads, soups, or fruit tarts.
  3. Spring-inspired Smoothie – Similar to spring cooking, why not make a spring smoothie to start your day off with some seasonal fresh fruits? Even better, I love a good smoothie bowl topped with peanut butter, almonds, granola, and a variety of fruit. Yum!
  4. Create Spring Crafts – Try your hand at crafting this spring and try DIY spring wreaths, flower arrangements, or upcycled projects to bring a fresh touch to your home. Get creative with it and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. That’s the beauty of crafting!
  5. Start a Bullet Journal or Create your April Pages – One of my favorite things to do at the start of the month is to make my bullet journal pages and layouts for the month. I start by picking a theme that I like (think raindrops, umbrellas, or flowers for April) and then go to town drawing and bringing the vision to life on paper. New to bullet journaling? Check out my post – The Ultimate Guide to Bullet Journaling: Unleash Your Creativity!
  6. Spring Cleaning – Take advantage of the change in seasons to declutter and refresh your home. For example, this could include deep cleaning, donating items you haven’t touched in years, or organizing your spaces. I love the feel of a freshly cleaned home, especially if I can open the windows and let some fresh air in too! Check out my spring cleaning checklist here!
  7. Watch Movies About Spring – I am a sucker for a seasonal movie list! Movies are great at getting you into the spirit of any season. Movies on my spring watch list this year include Mary Poppins, Hop, Eat Pray Love, and Wicked!

Social and Community Activities for the April 30-Day Challenge:

  1. Volunteer – Many organizations host clean-up drives, planting events, or community-building activities during the spring. Getting involved and helping out your community is a great addition to the April 30-day challenge!
  2. Host a Spring Gathering – Have a small get-together with friends or family to celebrate the season. You could host a brunch, barbecue, dinner party, or just hang out with snacks. Use spring as a time to get together with people you care about.
  3. Attend a Farmers’ Market – Support local farmers and artisans, while enjoying fresh, seasonal produce and handmade goods. Going to the farmers’ market is a highlight of the spring for me because I find so much joy in seeing local vendors in the fresh air and getting to purchase food that is locally grown.
  4. Attend a Spring Festival – Almost every community hosts spring fairs, art festivals, or seasonal markets during April. Look on your local community website or Facebook events to find an event happening near you. Local festivals are one of my favorite ways to get involved in the community, and it is a perfect addition to my April 30-day challenge!
  5. Start or Join a Book Club – Gather a group of friends or coworkers to start a spring reading club. If you’re anything like me, this can sound a little intimidating. So, maybe start with just one other person. Agree on a book to read and discuss it together as the month goes on.
  6. Plan a Day Trip – Take a road trip to a nearby town, park, or scenic destination to experience the beauty of April. Surprisingly, day trips are a great way to get out of your daily routine and explore a new place. Challenge yourself to find all the free things to do in your chosen destination!

Wellness and Self-Care:

  1. Practice Mindfulness – Spend a few minutes focusing on deep breathing, meditation, or simply being present in the moment. As someone with intense anxiety, turning my brain off is quite a challenge, but mindfulness is super essential to keeping my mind from spiraling. I recommend trying guided meditation videos on YouTube if you share this same struggle.
  2. Pamper Yourself with a Spring Spa Day or Night – Take a relaxing bath, exfoliate your skin, paint your nails, and allow yourself to completely unwind. I love having some “me” time during the month and focusing on self-care makes it even better!
  3. Try a New Exercise Routine – Challenge yourself to try something new, like Pilates, HIIT, running, or a fitness class. I’m big into dance workouts (shoutout to the Fitness Marshall) and I love walking. However, switching it up throughout the year is really beneficial to the body and keeps things interesting.
  4. Take a Yoga Class – If we’re being honest, workout classes scare me, but I have big dreams of being “that girl” who goes to yoga classes in the morning and what better time to try it out than springtime. Spring is a great time to focus on stretching and rejuvenating your body.
  5. Start a Gratitude Practice – Reflect on positive moments every day, either through journaling or verbal affirmations. Practicing affirmations has been something I’ve had my eye on for a while because positive self-talk is so important for mental health. This is the month!
  6. Do a Face Mask or Switch Up your Skincare Routine – Skin changes with the weather. It’s important to also alter your skincare routine to fit the season. Everyone is different so find the products that work for your skin this spring.

Creative and Personal Development:

  1. Learn Something New – I’m a firm believer that we should continue learning new things throughout our lives. This month, take an online class or tutorial to pick up a new skill or hobby. some examples include photography, painting, or coding. Personally, I’ll be focusing on learning all I can about blogging to improve content for you all!
  2. Create a Vision Board for the Season – With the new season, it’s a great time to align your goals and intentions for the coming months. Find images that represent your goals for the spring and display them somewhere you look often to remind yourself of what you’re working towards.

Fun and Seasonal Events for the April 30-Day Challenge:

  1. Plan an April Fools’ Day Prank (April 1) – Have some light-hearted fun with a harmless joke or prank. Play it cool and get a lot of good laughs!
  2. Celebrate Easter (April 20) – Participate in Easter egg hunts, brunches, or community events. You could also celebrate with family or attend church if that’s your thing.
  3. Celebrate Earth Day (April 22) – Participate in local environmental activities or make a personal commitment to a more sustainable lifestyle. For example, you could switch from plastic to glass in your kitchen. You could also commit to cleaning out jars before recycling (yes, it does matter).

Conclusion

As we wrap up this April 30-Day Challenge, I hope you’ve found joy in embracing the season and making time for activities that bring a sense of happiness. Whether you completed an activity every day or just enjoyed a few moments of spring throughout the month, remember that the this challenge is all about taking small steps toward self-care and celebrating the beauty of the season. Thank you for joining me on this journey! I’d love to hear how this challenge has inspired you or impacted your joy this month!
